Who plays

Denver @ LA

Current records: Denver 4-2; Los Angeles 0-5

What there is to know

The Los Angeles Lakers will return home after a two-game road trip. They will face the Denver Nuggets at 9:30 p.m. ET Sunday at Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers and Denver are tied in their last 30 meetings (15-15).

It was all tied 52-52 at halftime, but Los Angeles wasn’t quite the match of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second half when they met last Friday. Los Angeles fell short against Minnesota, losing 111-102. One thing holding Los Angeles back was the lackluster play of small forward Troy Brown Jr., who didn’t have his best game: he picked up four fouls and returned the ball four times en route to a 12-point finish.

Meanwhile, while not quite a landslide, last Friday’s game between the Nuggets and the Utah Jazz was still pretty decisive as Denver wrapped it up with a 117-101 win at home. Denver small forward Michael Porter Jr. looked sharp as he posted a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Los Angeles is expected to lose this next by 3.5. They’ve failed bettors by playing away in their last five games, so buyers beware.

Denver’s win made them 4-2 while Los Angeles’ loss brought them down to 0-5. Allowing an average of 116.33 points per game, Denver has not really asserted itself on the defensive side. We’ll see if they can fix the holes in their defense before their next game.
