New ‘Wallace and Gromit’ Movie Coming to Netflix


Netflix is ​​bringing back an iconic animated franchise Wallace and Gromitafter more than 15 years since his last project. Deadline reported that the beloved Claymation characters will be getting a new movie on the streamer in 2024. In the US, fans will need to have a Netflix subscription in order to experience the eccentric duo’s new adventures, with the new movie premiering on the BBC UK.

The new film will follow the human/dog team as Wallace invents the “intelligent gnome,” a device that spirals out of control, as Wallace’s inventions know. “Wallace and Gromit are so loved by everyone at Aardman – they’re like family to us, and we couldn’t be more excited to create a brand new film for them,” said Aardman Managing Director Sean. Clarke, in a statement about the new film. “When Nick [Park, Wallace and Gromit creator] came up with the concept of an “intelligent dwarf”, we all agreed that Wallace would find the idea irresistible. We’re sure audiences will also find the story compelling.”

Park created Wallace and Gromit in the late ’80s, and to this day, the franchise consists of four shorts, one feature film, and two television series. There are also a handful of spin-off characters, such as Shaun the Sheep and Timmt the Lamb, from Time Timmy. In addition, Aardman is also responsible for the film Chicken coopwho gets a sequel — Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget – in 2023 on Netflix.
