Lindsay Lohan to be Netflix’s next Christmas romantic comedy star, says Variety. The streaming service has produced several popular vacation-themed films over the past few years, including Jingle jangle, A christmas prince, and Holidate. Now, with Lohan as the new frontrunner, Netflix is giving Hallmark Channel a run for its money.
Lohan rose to fame at just 11, after a turning point in the 1998 Disney remake The parents trap. As she transitioned from child actor to teen actor, she found success in a Horrible friday reboot opposite Jamie Lee Curtis and in Tina Fey’s smart comedy Bad girls. These roles made Lohan a household name, but the pressure of being an A-List celebrity led to drug addiction and a removal from the limelight.
Over the past decade, Lohan has made a handful of appearances in film and television, both in character and as herself. She lived abroad in Europe, where she appeared in the West End production of Speed-the-plow and had a recurring role in the British television series Medical certificate. In 2018, she starred in the MTV reality show Lindsay Lohan Beach Club, who recounted his daily life while running his own club in Mykonos, Greece.
Then, in 2019, Lohan told Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen that she wanted to “come back to America and start filming again”. It was during the New Years Eve special on CNN, and there was no way Lohan could predict his return to Hollywood would take longer than expected.
The untitled film’s logline describes the character of Lohan as a “spoiled and newly engaged hotel heiress” who suffers from amnesia following a skiing accident. She “found herself in the care of a handsome blue-collar lodge owner and her precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas. The movie is set to start filming later in November, so it’s likely we’ll have to wait. following holiday season to unwrap that Christmas gift.
