What there is to know

A Pac-12 battle is underway between the Oregon State Beavers and Arizona State Sun Devils at 2:15 p.m. ET Saturday at Sun Devil Stadium, Frank Kush Field. Oregon State should still ride high after a big win, while ASU will look to right the ship.

It all went well for the Beavers against the California Golden Bears last week as they picked up a 38-10 win. The contest was almost over by the end of the third, at which point Oregon State had established a 31-7 advantage. Oregon State quarterback Ben Gulbranson threw it as he passed for two touchdowns and 127 yards on 23 attempts in addition to hitting a rushing touchdown.

Meanwhile, ASU fell short against the Washington State Cougars last week, losing 28-18. ASU was down 28-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too hard to recover from. Arizona State’s loss came despite a quality game from RB Xazavian Valladay, who rushed for a TD and 134 yards on 21 carries.

The Beavers are the favorites in this one, with an expected margin of victory of 8 points. They’ve been consistent moneymakers against the spread when favored (4-1), so they might be worth a quick bet.

Oregon State is now 7-3 while the Sun Devils sit a 3-7 mirror image. Two defensive numbers to keep in mind heading into kickoff: Oregon State enters the game with just nine passing touchdowns allowed, good for eighth-best in the nation. ASU isn’t quite as good, but they’re not dumb either: They rank 31st in the nation in touchdown passes allowed, with just 13 on the season.
