Apple TV’s offline viewing feature is great but comes at the cost of your Mac’s storage space. So delete the shows and movies you have already watched.
The Apple TV app is one of the best apps to watch movies and TV shows on your Mac. However, storing TV shows and movies can take up a lot of storage space on your Mac.
Luckily, you can easily uninstall movies and TV shows you’ve already watched and save a ton of storage space on your Mac.
What is the Apple TV app?
Every Mac comes with the Apple TV app, which was originally part of iTunes but became a separate app in macOS Catalina.
The app lets you watch TV shows and movies, which you can rent or buy from Apple. You can also watch Apple Originals with an Apple TV+ subscription and connect other streaming services like AMC+ to the app to watch content directly.
Why Should You Delete Apple TV Movies and Shows?
There are several reasons to have free storage space on your Mac. Free storage is essential because you never know when you might need to install a vital program or download an important document.
Once you’ve finished watching the movie or TV show, there’s no reason to keep them locally on your hard drive other than wanting to watch them offline. You can still stream movies and TV shows if you plan to watch them again.
How to Delete Apple TV Shows and Movies
There are two ways to remove Apple TV shows and movies from your Mac. You can delete them through the Apple TV app or the Storage tab in About This Mac. To delete a movie or TV show within the app itself, follow these instructions:
- Open the Apple TV app and select either Movies Where TV shows under the Library sidebar.
- Click it three points in the lower right corner of the TV show or movie.
- Picking out Delete Download.
The show or movie will be uninstalled from your Mac. A quicker solution would be to delete the shows or movies through About This Mac. To do this, here is what you need to do:
- Click on the Apple logo in the menu bar and choose About This Mac from the drop-down menu.
- Go to the Storage tab then click Manage.
- Now click on TV in the left pane and select the TV show or movie you want to remove.
- Click on Wipe off in the lower right corner, and when prompted, choose Wipe off Again.
Unlike the Apple TV app, you can press and hold the Command key and click multiple shows and movies to save time deleting. And if you don’t want to delete some of your favorite movies from your Mac, you can save storage space by deleting the GarageBand sound library.
Enjoy more free storage on your Mac
Uninstalling Apple TV shows and movies is a great way to free up space on your Mac. Both methods will effectively delete content you’ve already watched, but if you want to save time, do it from your Mac’s storage settings.
And if deleting your Apple TV content wasn’t enough to save enough storage space, you can also check to see if other apps or files are draining your Mac’s storage drive.
