Hansal Mehta will offer the series “Scoop” on Netflix

After ‘Scam 1992’, filmmaker Hansal Mehta is ready to come up with a new web series titled ‘Scoop’, which will stream on Netflix. Based on Jigna Vora’s book, “Behind The Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison,” “Scoop” is presented as a character drama that traces the journey of Jagruti Pathak, an ambitious crime reporter. Her world crumbles when she is framed for the heinous murder of fellow journalist, Jaideb Sen, and finds herself in a jail cell with those she has previously reported on.

The news was shared by Mehta on Twitter with a poster and caption: “Fresh off the press and streaming soon on Netflix, meet you, Scoop.”

Speaking more about the series, Mehta said, “Reading Jigna Vora’s book – ‘Behind The Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison’ piqued my interest and compelled me to bring this story to life on screen. We have already started filming and I’m thrilled that this story will be my first collaboration with Netflix.”

He added: “Great stories can only benefit from a service that can take them to a wider audience, Scoop is that kind of story and with Netflix we will be able to bring it to audiences around the world. With my co-creator Mrunmayee Lagoo and producers Matchbox Shots, I seek to dive deep into a tale of our hyped times and the human cost of the stories we consume on a daily basis.”

Mehta will create the next web series with Mrunmayee Lagoo. Casting details have yet to be released.
