That does not like Keanu reeves? Nobody, that’s who.
The matrix star has long been a mainstay in Hollywood – his career spans five decades at this point – and for good reason: there remains massive public appeal. For example, a film that was both a critical and a commercial flop when it was released five years ago has skyrocketed on Netflix in recent weeks. Namely, legal drama of 2016 All the truth.
Also starring Renee Zellweger, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Jim Belushi, the photo introduces Reeves as defense attorney Richard Ramsey who works on the case of a 17-year-old accused of murdering his wealthy father, a professional friend of Ramsey. To help him solve the case and prove his client’s innocence, he hires talented young lawyer Janelle Brady (Mbatha-Raw) as a partner.
As you can see from this plot description, this is a fairly generic, not inventive, audience drama. It certainly wasn’t appealing enough to draw audiences to theaters, as it struggled to even make $ 2 million at the box office. Likewise, it sits on a low 30% Critics Score on Rotten Tomatoes. Still, Netflix users clearly can’t get enough of it. All the truth currently sits 10th on the Top 1o Most Popular Movies in the US on Monday, May 31, after remaining on the chart for most of that month.
We can safely assume that it is Reeves’ presence in the film that is the reason for his enduring popularity on the platform. After all, fans of the Canadian actor are waiting for two major new films to be released next year – in December. The matrix 4 and May 2022 John Wick: Chapter 4 – so it seems All the truth does the job of scratching that itch for more Keanu reeves content until they get here.
