5 heartwarming Indian TV shows we can watch and re-watch at dinner time every day


Indian television is widely known for its ridiculous supernatural shows or endless daily soap operas, but there are gems of the television world that remain iconic and evergreen. These are not necessarily the shows from our childhood (the good old 90s) but shows that have managed to hold audiences for a long time and still make the best companions for lunch and dinner.

We can mindlessly watch and re-watch these shows while stuffing food in our mouths. These programs allow us to escape from the real world for a moment, to laugh and get lost in our daily problems. Whether it’s for gorging after work, during the lunch break or while having dinner with the family, we find ourselves turning to them in a comforting way. entertaining shows that we just can’t get enough of.

Here are five of those greatest shows we still watch on TV, streaming platforms, or on our laptops:

1. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

The longest-running comedy show on television, TMKOC, is the entertaining equivalent of comfort food. There’s a reason it’s one of the most beloved shows.

It’s clean and funny and you can watch it with your parents. In fact, most of the time they put it on and you started liking it too.

2. CID

The classic crime drama spanned 20 years and sometimes continuously and there was a phase in everyone’s life when they binge-watched episodes. Now, too, we sometimes put it on SonyLiv or YouTube when we’re in the mood to watch some brilliant detective fiction and guess a whodunnit.

3. Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai

If you’re still watching the show’s first season (the second was a bit boring) while dining in 2022 on Hotstar, you’re a true desi adult.

It’s entertaining and delicious and there’s never been another show like it. It’s amazing how it can still make us laugh after all these years. It’s truly iconic.

4. The Kapil Sharma Show

We all watched the comedy show hosted by Kapil Sharma and laughed out loud while having dinner and we still do. Whether it’s an interview with a legendary actor from the 80s (these are the best) or the skit the crew does at the start, it’s always an awesome and hilarious watch.

5. Indian Idol/Hunarbaaz/Bigg Boss

Some of these reality shows have become our dinner companions simply because they are so much fun to watch.

No matter how controversial, scripted, or trashy some of them may be, we still can’t get enough and cringe guilt-free while having our food.
